The Komen Race for the Cure® Series is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world and the largest foot race in Alabama. 2008 is the 25th anniversary of the Race for the Cure Series® with more than 1 million people are expected to participate in more than 100 Races around the United States.

2008 also marks the 17th Anniversary of the Komen Birmingham Race for the Cure®. Few Alabama traditions touch the hearts of so many like the Komen Birmingham Race for the Cure®. Every year thousands of people come out to give moms, dads, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons and friends the gift of support and hope. Last year 11,000 participants, sponsors, friends and family raised over $750,000 through the Race! Please join us again this year as we strive to reach our goal of raising $1 Million toward the fight against breast cancer!

2008 Komen Birmingham Race for the Cure Registration fees:

$30 Adult ($40 day of Race)

$30 Survivor ($40 day of Race)

$15 Child 14yrs and younger ($25 day of Race)

$30 Sleep in for the Cure

$5 Chip Timing (for runners wanting to have their run timed)

AWARDS/ PRIZES

Awards will be given to the top 3 timed runners of the 5k following the run.

PARKING

Survivor parking: will be located at the Jefferson County Parking Deck on 21st Street North (Richard Arrington Blvd.) and 8th Avenue North for the day of the race so that participating survivors may have an easily accessible parking location. Survivors must pick up the parking pass to be able to park in the JC Parking Deck.

SURVIVOR CAFÉ

All survivors can enjoy the Survivor Café from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Thank you to our sponsors for providing all of the breakfast items being served.

SURVIVOR PHOTO & PARADE

All survivors wishing to participate in the Survivor Photo and Survivor Parade will meet at the Survivor Café no later than 8:30 AM for the group photo and for staging of the Survivor Parade. We will be parading all survivors down to the start line of the race for an aerial photo of the entire race, then filtering you back into the appropriate race staging area to meet your friends and family.

PACKET PICKUP

Packet Pick-Up will be held at the Colonial Brookwood Village October 6th -10th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily. All participants are strongly encouraged to pick up their packets before October 11th.

Packet Pick-Up on October 11th will be at Linn Park 7:15 AM ? 8:45 PM ONLY.

VILLAGE & KID ZONE

Be sure to check out our generous sponsors booths at the Race For The Cure Village.

Kids will get a chance to play in the Kid Zone in the Post Race Village. Thank you to our sponsor Vic Smith for providing a safe place to play! Parent or guardian must be present at all times while child is at the Kid Zone.

WEATHER POLICY

Race will start regardless of rain or bad weather. Rain delay may occur if lightening or hazardous winds occur. No refunds are given in case of rain delays or extreme weather conditions.
